I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by since my last post. It just goes to show how busy it can be as a teacher! Hull Fair has been and gone, and so has Halloween! Bonfire night soon and then next stop, Christmas!
Anyway, much has been achieved in the world of computer science and Scratch in this time.
With the limited curriculum time available, my Year 4 students have been making good progress with Scratch and are now working on their projects to share with a school in Massachusetts. There are very excited by the chance to see projects by students in the US. We have been taking photographs around the school to use as backgrounds so that our projects give the US kids an idea about of our local environment.
Meanwhile, my Year 5 computer club on a lunchtime are enjoying using the sensorboard and WeDo to create projects. Hull Fair provided some great inspiration and I particularly liked the Lego WeDo carousel that only went round when the kids made enough noise for the sound sensor to pick up. No problem with them doing that!
Another good one asked the user to input his or her name. If the kids typed their names, the ride moved, but when I typed in mine it said that I was too small to ride the ride! Very imaginative!
